84th Annual Remembrance Day Event Goes Virtual

November 16, 2020 - Hubcast Media's Vancouver team had the great honour of producing and livestreaming the Air Force Officers’ Association’s virtual edition of its annual “Dawn Patrol” Remembrance Day event.

Since 1936, AFOA members have attended the annual ceremony in person to honour the memory of fallen comrades and friends who have passed away. It was at risk of being cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

With Hubcast's support and expertise, the important tradition was able to continue in an online format for 2020. The 90-minute program was pre-recorded and then streamed live on November 11 to time the two minutes of silence exactly at 11:00 am. The event included the AFOA's traditional formalities plus entertainment by Linda Jones, "Sweetheart of the Veterans."

Members had the choice to watch the online commemoration via its website or in an interactive Zoom Room. The feedback has been very positive.

One special veteran who was thrilled to watch from the safety of his home was 102-year-old Jack Miles, the oldest surviving WWII pilot in Canada.
